Characters: By Margie
Greg a safety patrol guard but got suspended for a week for chasing kindergarten kids with a worm

Rowley is also a safety patrol guard. He was accused of chasing kindergarteners with a worm on a stick, which was actually Greg wearing his coat. He then told the principal and Greg lost his duty on safety patrol. Rowley did not forgive Greg so they were not friends for a while. Greg was being forced by bullies to eat the Cheese (a stinky piece of rotted cheese left on the school blacktop), and received the honor of being picked Class Clown in the school yearbook.

Mr. Winsky is the school principal at Greg's school who made Rowley and Greg a part of safety patrol.

The Whirley Street kids are kids who bully Greg and Rowley during the winter. They also plotted to roll a giant snowball at the Whirley Street kids.

Mrs. Levine is Greg's English teacher who is mentioned during Greg's ironic situation.

Bryan Little is the former school cartoonist who made the comic, "Wacky Dawg" which ended because it revolved around his own personal problems.

Mrs. Irvine is a woman who is friends with Rowley's mom who caught Greg, thought to be Rowley, teasing kindergarteners with worms on a stick, while they were supposed to be taking them home, on safety patrol duty.

Collin Lee is a boy who used to be Rowley's friend until he forgave Greg.

Fregley is Greg's neighbor, and an all-around strange boy. Fregley has freckles. He likes stuffing dirt in his ears and beating kites with a stick. He likes hanging out on his front lawn, wrestling, playing Twister, and chasing people around with a booger on his finger.

Bill Watson is a high school dropout who works at the local Food Barn. He was called Nerd in Rodrick's yearbook and he was voted Most Likely to Succeed along with Kathy Nguyen.

Summarizer:
As we come to an end, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, keeps on getting better and Greg of course continues with his mischievous actions and anything he could possible to gain fame. Greg and Rowley are working on a cartoon strip called ZooWee Mama! During lunch time there was an announcement made for Rowley Jefferson to please report to the office. The boys had really thought it was because their comic strip had won. It turned out to be for the worm chasing Rowley had done while walking the kindergartners home after school, when really it was Greg who had walked them home. Rowley was in deep trouble at school now. He was suspended from safety patrols and from walking the kinders home. Later that night, Greg tossed and turned because he knew he needed to tell Rowley the truth and didn’t know to approach him. Greg finally tells Rowley the honest truth and Rowley seems upset about it. Again, there was another announcement made over the speaker this time for Greg Heffley to report to the office. Greg knew it was just a matter of ti me before he gets busted for the worm chasing incident. Greg is now let go from safety patrol duty. Greg knew it was Rowley who had ratted him out. Since this incident Rowley has been giving Greg the cold shoulder and has be hanging around Collin Lee. Rowley and Collin wore the same T-shirt that said BEST FRIENDS on it and Greg just wanted to vomit. Greg thinks of Rowley as his ex-friend.
Greg’s teacher was going to be out and guess who the sub was….his mother was. Greg had plans to act as the class clown and he was hoping he could win that vote. But as he walked in and saw his mother his plans were spoiled. Greg knew if there was a biggest mamas boy category, he would win in a heartbeat.
Today, the comic strip contest was released and it was Zoo Wee Mama by Greg and Rowley. Well, somehow Greg’s name was removed and Rowley Jefferson received all the fame. Greg was furious he wanted to fight Rowley.
In conclusion, I strongly believe children need to be engaged when reading and have the opportunity to participate in some type of book talk in which they discuss what they’re reading. By participating in literature circles, children have the chance to analyze what they’ve read with a group or their peers and this discussion enhances their understanding and appreciation for books.

I can relate to this just recently. My kid experienced something like this his 8th grade year. Although it wasn’t him he had spit on the teacher’s lunch, but because he knew about it and didn’t say anything he was just to blame. I remember the consequences being very serious, but I argued until the principal released all punishment against my son and the kid WHO did cause all this mess finally got kicked out of school. Keep in mind this was private school.

Director Disscussion - pages 151-216 by Aimee Turner

As my part of the Director Discussion is too come up with five question that relate the story. I have really enjoyed this activity,I hope to use it my classroom one day!

Summarizer:

As the story unfolds Greg and Rowley get back from trick or treating and he decides for next year he is just not going to do trick or treating because they get sprayed with a fire extinguisher. On the way to school the next morning, he notices grandma’s house is toilet papered and wonders who could have played a trick on grandma. Greg the comedian he thinks heis plays a joke on Preston Mudd because Preston gets athlete of the month and Greg changes his name on his award to P. Mudd so, that everyone in the school could make fun of Preston.
They are getting ready for a play and Greg is deciding what part he should play, but pretty much everything is taken. So, he chooses to be a tree because they just have to stand there and not say a word. During rehearsal, the teacher assigns a part for the three trees…a singing part and Greg is more worried about a classmate (Rodrick) being in the audience to see Greg humiliate himself. The big embarrassment came when on the day of the play and the three trees forgot the words to the song.
Christmas is on its way on Greg hasn’t made his Christmas Wish List. He says the only thing he wants is a video game called Twisted Wizard. Of course, Greg doesn’t receive the video game and the one gift that he thought Uncle Charlie had bought was the video game it wasn’t it was a picture frame with Uncle Charlie’s picture in it. Greg mostly received books, socks, a weight set, that red wool sweater that mom went shopping for, he wasn’t too thrilled of any of his Christmas gifts. Mom says she did buy the video game and maybe she gave it to the Tree Sharing exchange that is done at the church. The red sweater was the gift she had originally bought for the exchange. So, Greg is pretty upset that some boy received his video game.

Connector:
I can relate to this when the Greg and his friend are walking home after trick or treating and the teenage boys drive pass them and spray them with fire extinguisher….we did something similar to that…on the way home from trick or treating we would egg houses that would have their lights turned off and run as fast as we could back to our house and hide in the bushes until the coast was clear to come out. Also, Greg receives a comic book from his brother called Best of Lil Cutie and his brother probably did that intentionally to annoy him. This is something that my 6 year old does to his big brother.

SUMMARIZER & CONNECTOR pgs.1-75 by:Veronica Bernal

By: Veronica Bernal

Summarizer: In The Diary of A Wimpy Kid By Jeff Kinney, Greg Heffley is the main character and the owner of this diary. As Greg says, “Dear diary this” and “Dear diary that” let’s get one thing straight from the start…this is a JOURNAL not a diary. Greg would write in it on a daily basis yet it was just a journal. Greg was not popular in school, he found himself to be 52nd or 53rd most popular, but he tried his hardest to be noticed. During P.E, Greg remembers a piece of cheese that been sitting on the blacktop since last spring and by now mold was growing on it and looking very nasty. Greg came up with a game called Cheese touch it was basically like having cooties. The only way to protect yourself is by crossing your fingers and by doing so you wouldn’t get the cooties. Greg and his dad are at constant battle with each other, while Greg and mom get along great.

Connector:
I can relate to this perfectly when I found this little black book that belongs to my son who was 10 at the time. He denied everything it contained, but it was funny to read coming from a boys view. Also, I can relate to the Halloween costume part again my son wanted a costume and this particular costume was a scary one (Saw the movie) and of course I buy it for him and the day of Halloween he decides not to wear it because he’s afraid of it.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid

Diary of a Wimpy Kid
Characters: By Margie
Gregory: Gregory is the main character who faces difficulty time in middle school. He is also known as the "wimpy kid". He has a good friendship with Rowley Jefferson although Greg often wonders how the two can possibly be friends. Greg's father attempts to get him to exercise and participate in sports. Greg often attempts to impress girls.

Rowley: Rowley is Greg's best friend. He has overprotective parents who dislike Greg, thinking that he is a bad influence. Rowley is childish according to Greg. Rowley gets a lot of attention from the girls in his grade only because he is "cute".

Rodrick: Rodrick is Greg's older brother and is the main antagonist of the series since he often bullies Greg. Rodrick is more of a cruel, lazy, than Greg .Rodrick tries to humiliate Greg several times. Rodrick is not the smartest person in the family, since he does not make any sort of effort at school.Rodrick enjoys staying home being lazy. Rockrick reminds me of my older son, maybe because he is the oldest and loves to pick on his little brother and sister.

Mom: Susan is Greg's mother who is extremely over-reactive and clueless. She constantly embarrasses Greg and appears to not care and she constantly tries to get Greg to enjoy reading and getting good grades at school. She and her husband pay more attention to Manny than their other two sons. I sometimes see my see being like Susan, sometimes I am clueless and once in a while I do pay attention to my little boy than to my other two kids.
Dad: Frank is Greg's father. He is very unpredictable and has a strong interest. Frank is very emotional towards Greg. He is known to be easily bothered by the simplest things and is constantly trying to get Greg to participate in sports and make him more of a man. Frank dislikes Rowley, video games. He seems to be very serious about things that goes on.

Manny: Manny is Greg's younger brother and is even more spoiled than Rodrick and Greg combined. Manny is extremely selfish and not caring at all for his brothers. Manny isn't good at potty. He does what ever he wants at home and does not even gets into trouble. parents thinks its too cute on what Manny did when he drew pictures on the door. Manny reminds me of my little boy, yes my son does sometime tattle tells on his siblings but who doesn’t do that.

My Prediction: By Margie
My prediction in this story is while walking to school; Greg and Rowley will be looking for some Halloween candies and eating them. I also predict that both boys will become sick from eating all those candies they find on the road.
